PROBLEM: PROMOTE THE MORNING SHOW AND NEW SIGNALS.SOLUTION: A 5-MINUTE DIRECT MAIL VIDEO! This is one you must see to believe! Lamont & Tenelli, the politically incorrect rock morning show, do a takeoff on the movie, The Rock, in order to promote their show, and the fact that KSJO is now on 3 dial positions in the signal-challenged San Francisco/San Jose/Oakland Bay Area.
We see Lamont & Tenelli, female guards, female prisoners, prison shower scenes and more. We hear an 'F' word. We witness an escape. We see more babes and...well, you get the idea. This video proves that you can beat Howard Stern with large breasts! A mailing of 200,000 videos proved hugely successful, with significant increases in morning show numbers. How well did it work?
THE ROCK is a 5-minute direct mail video, sent to the appropriate young (hormone charged) male demo for rock station KSJO, San Jose, which is known as THE ROCK.
This Rosler Creative production features morning guys Lamont & Tenelli fantasizing about how they would re-do the famous Alcatraz movie, The Rock. We see babes as gun-toting commandos on Alcatraz, a fantasy women's prison featuring cat fights and scantily-clad women working out in the prison yard. The viewer is also told to look for subliminal clues throughout the video, and the chance to win $10,000.
Finally, we see Lamont & Tenelli in a prison movie where the guards are women, with appropriate shower scenes, sex-starved wardens, and an implausable escape.
Intercut are rock videos, prizes the the news that KSJO is now on 3 different dial positions around the signal-challenged Bay Area (San Francisco, Oakland & San Jose).
FYI, the locations which appear to be Alcatraz are actually old military bunkers next to the Golden Gate Bridge, and San Francisco's Presidio public middle school and schoolyard!
200,000 videos (that's right, two hundred thousand!) were mailed. KSJO was pleased to receive dozens of complaints, and the video was the subject of a 5-minute prime-time news story that included more complaints, extensive footage from the show and an interview with John Sutherland, GM.
Bottom line results from the latest (3rd phase) book follow:
#1 M 18-49 in San Francisco metro with a 7.5 to beat Howard Stern's 6.3
#1 M 18-34 with a 11.7 share
#1 M 25-54 with a 13.1 share (#2 Howard Stern at a 7 share!)
#2 M 35-44, only 0.1 share behind Mr. Stern
